KarLag - Museum of Political Repression Victims’ Memory of the Dolinka Settlement

The KarLag Museum of Political Repression, housed in the former administrative headquarters of the Karaganda Corrective Labour Camp (KarLag) in the village of Dolinka, is one of the most significant memorial museums in Central Asia. Its 17 exhibition halls document the history of Soviet political repression, the Gulag system, and the lives of the prisoners who passed through KarLag — one of Stalin's largest labour camps, which held up to 65,000 prisoners at its peak. Opened to the public in 2011, the museum honours the memory of victims from across the Soviet Union and beyond.
