The museum is located in the historic WWI Memorial Library and has permanent colamining exhibits, reflecting the coalmining past of the district. Other permanent exhibitions include military, engineering and printing exhibits, as well as an Art Gallery with changing exhibitions. The museums has strong military and vintage motorcycle collections, and a supporting photography collection. Annual events include a Youth Art Expo, Anzac Day exhibition and Transport Expo. Bookbinding demonstrations are given.
