Ashburton Aviation Museum

The Ashburton Aviation Museum, located at Ashburton Aerodrome in Mid-Canterbury, holds one of the largest aircraft collections in New Zealand with over 40 meticulously preserved aircraft. Highlights include the only British Aerospace Harrier GR3 "Jump-jet" in the Southern Hemisphere, a former RNZAF Douglas Skyhawk, the Southern DC3 Trust's historic Douglas DC-3 ZK-AMY, an old control tower to climb, a "space ball" from the Soviet Cosmos 482 satellite, and a flight simulator. The museum was founded in 1974 and its current hangar opened in April 1991.
