Permanent Exhibition of the Aizkraukle Museum of History and Art: The Soviet Years

The exhibition illuminates the lives a Soviet people in all their diversity, covering such areas as domestic life, work and recreation, education and culture. On the ground floor, Soviet cars are displayed. A separate room is set apart for the library – the so-called “red corner”.

A large part of the exhibition reflects domestic life in Soviet times through the interior of a 1950s-1980s apartment, which includes furniture and household objects, dishes, textiles and electrical appliances. Other exhibition rooms cover emigration, Soviet repressions, domestic life, medicine, public structures (police, the army, etc.), tourism and sports, childhood and education.
