Daugavpils Local History and Art Museum
DLHAM has 17 halls with permanent exhibition displays about culture and nature and diverse temporary exhibitions that may be enjoyed with a tour guide or an audio guide. The museum has developed numerous educational programmes. Every year, it organizes the Long Night of Museums, the International Doll Festival, the Patriotic Week with the campaign of folding red-and-white ribbons and the torch procession on Lāčplēsis Day. DLHAM offers guided tours around the city and a backstage tour of the collection. The last Sunday of each month is Family Day at the museum when families can participate in creative workshops and other exciting activities.
The museum oversees two applied folk art studios – “Latgale” and “Klūga” (Wicker) – where everyone can try on the role of a ceramicist or a weaver. It also has a separate structural unit – Daugavpils Clay Art Centre, which promotes ceramic art and creative tourism.
