Jaunlaicene Manor Museum

Through joy, playfulness and positive emotion, the museum tells about the congregation of Opekalns and its 11 manors, focusing on how Latvian peasants and German barons coexisted in the 17th to 20th century. It is the only museum in Latvia where you will be told about the people of Maliena, their nature and language. Only here you can learn how to tie and dance squirrels or multiply by nine without anguish. The museum offers 16 educational programmes and lectures for pupils and adults. Teenagers also like it here, because we receive them with breakout and orientation games.

The Museum of Jaunlaicene Manor is located in an eponymous manor of northeast Vidzeme, Alūksne Highland. God’s grace gave our part of the world some spectacular landscapes that are sure to bewitch you with every step you take. Beautiful vistas across the treetops can be enjoyed from nearby towers, such as the church tower of Opekalns (the church is built at Latvia’s highest point above sea level) and the sightseeing towers on Mount Dēliņkalns and Mount Dzērve in Korneti.
