Jāzeps Vītols Memorial Museum “Anniņas”

The memorial museum of Jāzeps Vītols offers opportunities for active and contemporary engagement with the Professor’s cultural and historical legacy. In order to ensure the continuity of the Song Festival tradition, each summer we invite choirs to celebrate Jāzeps Vītols’s birthday with concerts. The tradition is reinforced by the annual music camp “Vītolēni” for children and youth. Since 2003, thousands of children have been able to develop professionally, sing in a mixed choir, play in an orchestra and enjoy the Song Festival feel in “Vītolsvētki” – the Vītols Festival of Gaujiena.

The museum’s permanent display presents the composer’s creative work, the hobbies he engaged in and the cartoons that he penned. Our special offer – “Appointment with Jāzeps Vītols” – is a 40-minute long staged educational event with a musical accompaniment that presents an exciting and unconventional take on Jāzeps Vītols’s life and musical legacy.
