Krišjānis Barons Museum

Distinguished Latvian folklorist Krišjānis Barons (1835-1923) moved to the apartment in the house number 3 on former Suvorov Street in 1919 and spent the last four years of his life in the family of his son, Doctor Kārlis Barons.

Historical photos and artefacts fill the room once occupied by Krišjānis Barons. Herem you can see his famous Cabinet of the Dainas (replica) that holds Latvian folksongs, recorded in handwritten form in the late 19th century. The museum frequently hosts thematic folklore nights (involving singing and games) about seasonal festivals and other topics.

The museum is a structural unit of the Memorial Museum Association.
