Wrights Hill Fortress

Historic coastal defence battery located on Wrights Hill in Karori, Wellington. Over 600 metres of tunnels were built during the second world war to defend Wellington from attack, and armed with two 9.2 inch guns. The site was scrapped in 1960, and is now being restored by the Wrights Hill Fortress Restoration Society.
