Olaine History and Art Museum

The principal display is focused on the peat bog of Olaine District, which has been around since times immemorial and continues to exist in the present day. As such, it has shaped the processes and developments in the area at various times in history.

The museum offers five displays: Bog Formation, District History, Peat Industry, “Laboratory” and “Andris Rumpēteris. Art. Room”, an open-type storage space and a modern showroom. Another point of attraction on museum territory is an educational trail about World War I history. En route, you can explore a newly made dugout that mirrors the original construction in its exact location, a fragment of a former gun tower and a memorial to the fallen heroes of the War of Independence and World War I, as well as learn many interesting facts about this period.
