Rainis Museum “Jasmuiža”
“Jasmuiža” Museum is located in the heart of Latgale, on the bank of River Jaša, in two historical buildings of Jasmuiža Manor that have been adapted for museum needs. The third museum building is the workshop and kiln of Andrejs Paulāns, the old master of Latgalian ceramics, which was reconstructed in 1999.
“Jasmuiža” tends to be called the land of the poet’s youth. At the reconstructed steward’s house, visitors can see a display about the poet’s student days in grammar school and university. Meanwhile, the renovated cattle barn has been turned into a thematic cottage for traditional Latgalian culture and crafts. Here, visitors can enjoy a vast display of Latgalian ceramics – more than 200 household vessels and decorative ceramics, and a tile stove by Ādams Kāpostiņš.
The museum is a structural unit of the Memorial Museum Association.
