Roja Sea Fishing Museum
The interactive display of the Roja Sea Fishing Museum recounts the history of coastal villages across various historic periods, focusing on the contribution of Krišjānis Valdemārs and the era of sail ship building on our coast, tracing the history of sea fishing and fish processing from ancient times into the present day and telling about the time when Banga Fishing Kolhoz was top among Latvia’s richest collective farms. Museum courtyard has been turned into a well-established territory with an inviting lounge area and a small open-air display. An interactive stand has been installed on the premises with information about the items on open-air display. A tourist route around Roja has been developed for those who wish to explore the surroundings.
The museum offers:
• viewing the museum individually or with a tour guide
• the younger visitors can board a playship, christen it and find out about signalling flags and the compass or put together a Lego lighthouse
• different musical lessons for pre-schoolers and pupils.
• an entertaining, theatrical performance for adults – “The Liars Club”
• a programme for newlyweds – “The Love Knot”.
