Talsi District Museum

The Talsi Regional Museum is located in the most beautiful historic building of the town and invites visitors to discover the cultural history, nature, and leading artists of Latvia. The museum building was constructed at the end of the 19th century in Neo-Classical style on the highest hill in the town – Tiguļi Hill – as the city residence Villa Hochheim of the Baron von Fircks family. The exhibitions and displays in this historic building reveal treasures of history, art, and nature, including rich collections of Curonian archaeological finds and ethnographic materials from Courland. The exhibition hall of the nearby collection building hosts the latest art exhibitions. Surrounding the museum is a dendrological park, established already in the Baron’s time, featuring more than 300 species of trees and shrubs.
