Valmiera Museum

The Valmiera Museum is one of the most significant repositories of historical values in the Vidzeme Region. Founded in 1959, it is situated in a complex of buildings constructed, reconstructed, and restored from the 18th to the 21st century. These buildings are located on the site of the ruins of the Valmiera castle of the Livonian Order.

The museum's collection comprises approximately 70,000 items, including evidence and materials related to the territory of Valmiera county from the earliest times to the present day.

The museum's operation is facilitated through the collaborative efforts of three departments: the collection department, the history department, and the exhibitions and events department. This collaboration enables the museum to offer a wide range of historical and art exhibitions, educate students, and maintain communication with the public.
