Golden Bay Museum - Te Waka Huia o Mohua

Golden Bay Museum Te Waka Huia o Mohua is located at 73 Commercial Street, Takaka in New Zealand's Golden Bay/Mohua region. Its permanent exhibitions tell the story of Golden Bay's industrial past — including flax, timber, gold, asbestos, cement, iron, and coal industries — alongside displays on the first meeting between local Maori (Ngati Tumatakokiri) and Abel Tasman's crew. The museum's collections began with those of the former Takaka Museum and have grown through community donations to include extensive documentary archives supporting local history research.
