Museum of the Holy House of Mercy
The Museum of the Holy House of Mercy opened in 2001 and houses an invaluable collection of Macao's Catholic relics, some dating back to the 16th century. Notable artifacts include the 1662 manuscript of the institution's founding commitment, relics of the first Bishop of Macao (D. Belchior Carneiro), and sacred art pieces including 18th-century ivory statues and ceramics with Jesuit markings. The institution itself was founded in 1569 by the first Bishop of Macao, located at Senado Square.
