The museum presents artefacts relating to the history of Paekakariki and its surrounding area. Items on display relate to both Maori and European settlement, the history of rail in the area and the encampment of thousands of US Marines near McKays Crossing during World War II. Maori artefacts include stone adzes, paua and bone fish hooks, anchor stones and a significant carving of a tauihu – war canoe prow. The Trust has restored the historic south end signal box, back on to the platform and hopes to provide landscaping of the Station and surrounding area. Kakariki Bookshop is located in the museum, specializing in old and rare books.
