Amathole Museum

The Amathole Museum, with an international reputation, originated from the King William's Town Naturalist Society founded in 1884. Renamed officially to Amathole in 1999 — the isiXhosa term meaning "calves," referring to nearby mountains. Features research collections and galleries including animals, cultural history, and Xhosa exhibits.
