Drostdy Museum, Swellendam
The Drostdy Museum in Swellendam, South Africa, occupies the original Drostdy built by the Dutch East India Company in 1747 as the residence and official headquarters of the Landdrost. The complex includes the Drostdy building, the old gaol, Mayville House Museum, the Ambagswerf craft yard with smithy, mill and tannery, and Zanddrift Farm. The property was acquired by the South African government in 1939 to establish a museum and now offers a virtual journey through Cape Dutch heritage.
