Founded in 1958, the SMQ is a non-profit organization that brings together and represents some 300 museum institutions (museums, exhibition centers and interpretation sites) and 600 individual members spread across all regions of Quebec. On the lookout for major trends in museology, she leads projects affecting different museum functions and regularly collaborates with international partners. The SMQ is also recognized as the sectoral tourism association (ATS) for museum institutions.
