The German Castle Association is one of the oldest non-governmental monument protection organizations in Germany dedicated to preserving our built heritage. The association was founded in Berlin in 1899 as the “Association for the Preservation of German Castles” in order to stop the increasing destruction of castles and historic defensive and residential buildings, as well as misunderstood restorations.
